The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State has announced the suspension of its chairman, Sikiru Jimoh, and other party members over alleged anti-party activities.
The suspension reportedly affects members nominated by former Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, and Alhaji Razaq Gbadegesin Agbeti.
The decision, according to a statement outlining the party’s position, forms part of disciplinary measures aimed at addressing activities considered detrimental to the interests, principles and unity of the party.
The affected members have reportedly been directed to suspend their participation in party activities and functions pending further developments.
The party expressed concern over what it described as alleged collaboration between some dissident members and opposition elements, accusing them of accepting financial inducements to work against the APM while retaining their membership of the party.
“We are aware that some dissidents in our midst are collaborating with the opposition and being lured with financial inducements to work against the party while still parading themselves as members of the APM,” the statement said.
The party warned that it would not tolerate anti-party activities, particularly from individuals who allegedly conceal their intentions under the guise of party membership while engaging in actions capable of undermining its unity and electoral prospects.
It stressed that the suspension was necessary to maintain discipline, prevent further internal disagreements and safeguard the collective interests of the APM in Ogbomoso North.
The leadership further maintained that party members were expected to demonstrate genuine commitment to the party’s ideals, respect its leadership and uphold the principles of loyalty and collective responsibility.
The development signals a move by the party’s leadership in Ogbomoso North to address internal disagreements and reinforce discipline ahead of future political engagements.
