The Oyo State Council Chairman of the Nigeria Union Of Public Service Reportorial, Secretarial, Data Processors And Allied Workers (NUPSRAW), Comrade Olufumilayo Rachel Adeagbo has lauded Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde over constant salary payment every 25th of each month.
Adeagbo stated this during the Union’s 45th National Executive Council Meeting and Special National Delegates Conference on Friday, 28th October, 2022 at Premier Hotel, Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.
She stated that there have been improved cordial relationship between Labour and the state government and they have kept the promise of consistent payment of salaries.
She further said,
“Engineer Seyi Makinde has religiously kept to the promise of paying monthly salaries and pension on the 25th of each month. This, he has continued to maintain and sustain since May, 2019, when he assumed office as the Governor. Backlog of promotions were settled while there were no victimization or harassment of workers”
While addressing the issue of insecurity, she extolled the south western states that has taken the bold to establish their own internal security outfits to complement the inadequacies of the Federal government agencies.
She said further,
“It is quite unfortunate that where ordinary vigilante groups were allowed to carry sophisticated weapons, like Ak-47 guns..members of Amotekun outfit were denied.”
“I, therefore, using this medium to strongly appeal to the federal government to, without further delay, approve the use of sophisticated weapons for Amotekun”
Speaking on workers welfare, Adeagbo eulogized the training programs that are being organized by the state government, she however appealed that the next batch should cut across the cadres within the Union, Official, Reporters, Confidential Secretaries, Data Processing Officers and Secratarial Assistants.
She also urged the state government on improved recruitments that are made into the service of the Oyo state.
She said,
“Over the years, series of fresh appointments made into the service of Oyo state have not favored my union in all ramifications, despite the fact that there had always been vacancies across cadres within the union. In the public service of Oyo state, NUPSRAW remained the worst hit industrial union which did not enjoy in recruitment exercises made by the government. I’m therefore imploring the Oyo state government to consider this union in subsequent recruitment exercises”
Representing the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry Of Establishment and Training, Mrs Adebusuyi charged members of NUPSRAW to be diligent at work, and the expand further in their education, apply for distance learning education so that they will not be marginalized in service.
Adebusuyi also use the privilege to highlight the achievements of the Oyo state government which includes the 6-month maternity leave for nursing mothers .
Earlier in her keynote address, the National President, NUPSRAW, Comrade Roselyn Ubah-Anarah appealed to the state government for more enhanced working environment for workers in the state.
Other highlight of the events includes the inauguration of the executives of the NUPSRAW women committee members.
