Oyo LG Election Holds May 12

Oyo state Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC)  has announced 12th May  as the new date for rescheduled Local Government Election.
The Chairman of the SIEC Mr Jide Ajeigbe told Journalists at a press briefing held in Ibadan.

Ajeigbe who assured the electorate of free and fair election also  said the election will be conducted into the party 33 local government areas and 35 LCDA’s

He said further that newly registered political parties will also be accommodated.

It would be recalled that the election which had earlier been fixed for Feb 2017 was cancelled due to court injuction.

Meanwhile the Peoples Democratic Party PDP  while reacting to the development said the seriousness and sincerity of the electoral umpire will determine the participation

The party spokesperson Engineer Akeem Olatunji when contacted decline further until he saw the timetable

 

Also the State Chairman of Conference of Political Party Alhaji Yinka Olona described the decision as a welcome development and urged the OSIEC to created a level playing ground for all the political parties during the election
