Oyo state House of Assembly today ordered that any of the two rejected nominees for the caretaker chairman of local government and unscreened candidates that was replaced with the screened one in Lagelu West LCDA should be arrested and prosecuted if they parade themselves as council chairman.

Just as it stepped down the letter from the executive arm of government requesting it to replace Aransi with Abiodun Oladeji for Lagelu west LCDA pending the outcome of the report from the committee on ethics and value.

The house also want the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy matters,  permanent secretary of the same ministry and the Secretary to the state Government SSG to appear before the house to explain what transpires

This directive came following the issue raised by Hon Gbenga Oyekola Atiba state constituency where he claimed that two of the rejected nominee and an unscreened person were sworn in by the executives as caretaker chairman of Lagelu West LCDA.

He pointed out that the decision is disrespect to the authority of the legislative arms of government.

Also Hon Oladeji Bimbo from Ogbomoso North state constituency pointed an accusing finger at the Speaker of the House Hon Michael Adeyemo saying the speaker was at the venue where the illegalities were being perpetrated.

Hon Olusegun Olaleye  (Radical brother)  said the decision of the executive to swear in uncleared nominee is sending a signal to the legislative arm of government and that signal is telling on the integrity of the House

Olaleye also accused the permanent secretary ministry of  local government and chieftain matter, Mrs Hannah Ogunesan as the brain behind the who crisis.

But the Speaker in a swift reaction said the oath of office had been concluded before he entered the venue and that when he noticed what happened he called attention to it.

It was also gathered that the executive has also presented another letter for two nominees in Irepo local government and Asabari LCDA.

It would be recalled that two people were laying claims to the caretaker chairman of Lagelu west LCDA while  Hon Mudashiru Agbaje of Irepo Local government and Taiwo Adeleke of Asabari local government were rejected by the house

The house however ordered committee on ethics and value to investigate what transpires and get back report to the house in the next two weeks

Chairman House Committee on Information, Hon. Josuha Oyebamiji who briefed journalists after the plenary said that the order takes effect immediatly.

“We screened 55 people but to our dismay, the two people we rejected were also swore-in. At Lagelu, the candidate we screened was replaced by another person.  And the house resolved that those people for the 3 councils should stop parading themselves until the committee we set up come up with their report.

“We said that DPOs in those areas should arrest them and hand them over to the Commissioner of Police.

“The Committee will find out who and those who caused it, you can fell the heat in the house today.

On the said letter, Oyebamiji said “The person has been swore-in before screening. It is a belated issue. The house has passed the letter to the committee. But there is no Chairman in these 3 councils.
