The Oyo State Government has announced plans to introduce a fully digital system for building and survey plan approvals across the state.
The Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Hon. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, disclosed this during a meeting with zonal directors of town planning offices held on Monday at the ministry’s conference room in Ibadan.
According to Akin-Funmilayo, the digital process represents a major step in urban management and infrastructural regulation, aimed at eliminating the irregularities and leakages often associated with manual operations.
He explained that the new system would promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency in processing approvals, noting that each approved document would carry a unique barcode for authentication and validation.
“The era of inefficiency and compromise within the town planning system is over. The present administration will no longer tolerate excuses but expects results that justify its investments in modernization,” he stated.
The commissioner also directed task forces and enforcement departments in the Physical Planning unit to intensify monitoring and clamp down on individuals or developers who violate planning regulations.
He assured residents that the new platform would allow property owners to apply for and process building approvals remotely, saving time and eliminating the need for intermediaries or unofficial dealings.
Akin-Funmilayo urged citizens to embrace the innovation and comply with planning laws, emphasizing that the digital platform would be user-friendly, secure, and corruption-free.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and properties through strict adherence to planning standards and modernized administrative processes.
