Oyo APC Chair’s Wife, Serifat Abas Becomes Osi-Iyalaje of Igbooraland

Alhaja Serifat Abas, wife of Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, has been installed Osi-Iyalaje of Igboora land in a colourful traditional ceremony.

The colourful installation ceremony was held on Saturday at the historic Igboora Community Town Hall in Ibarapa Central Local Government of Oyo State.

Abas was honoured alongside Chief Idowu Akinteye, who was installed as the Otunba Ariwajoye of Igboora by the traditional rulers of the community.

The installation ceremony was performed by the Olu of Igboora, Oba Jimoh Titiloye, Olu-Aso of Iberekodoland, Oba Jamiu Badmus and Onidere of Idereland, Oba Kingsley Onikola.

Others are Baba-Aso of Iberekodo-Igbole, Oba Olusanjo Ojo; Onisagaun of Sagaun, Oba Adekunle Fasasi; Onidofin of Idofin, Oba Samuel Adeleye and Regent of Pako, High Chief Moyofola Ajibode.

The traditional rulers jointly honoured the recipients for their notable contributions to the growth and development of Igboora and its people.

Chief Oje Morakinyo, speaking on behalf of community leaders, said the honours were based on personal and family legacies of community service.

Morakinyo, a former Oyo State Commissioner, said the new chiefs came from families with long-standing developmental impact on Igboora land.

On behalf of the recipients, Abas expressed gratitude to the traditional rulers and people of Igboora for finding them worthy of the honour.

She pledged their continued support for initiatives that would promote economic and social growth across Igboora and surrounding communities.

“I’m deeply honoured and humbled by this recognition. I will not take it for granted,” she said in an emotional remark.

Abas dedicated the chieftaincy title to her husband, Alhaji Olayide Abas, and everyone who had supported her over the years.

Prominent dignitaries graced the event, including Chief Gboyega Olaoye, former Oyo Head of Service, retired Justice Gboyega Akinteye and wife as well as Dr Razaq Tijani and wife.

Others are Chief Akinyemi Akinlabi, Alhaji Jamiu Kareem and many other notable sons and daughters of the land.

The installation ceremony was a celebration of culture, honour and service, attracting a large crowd of well-wishers and traditional enthusiasts.
