The Oyo State Government has debunked a viral video circulating on social media alleging that pupils, students and teachers abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area have been released.

The Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, described the video as false and misleading, urging members of the public to disregard it.

According to Oyelade, the state government is still actively pursuing discreet interventions aimed at securing the safe release of the abducted victims.

“The viral video about the release of those abducted at Oriire in Oyo State is unfortunately untrue. The state government continues its discreet interventions, which we are very hopeful will yield the desired result soon. We thank all for their patience,” the commissioner said.

Oyelade assured that the state government, in collaboration with security agencies and other relevant stakeholders, remains committed to ensuring the safe return of the abducted pupils, students and teachers.

He also expressed appreciation to residents of the state for their patience, understanding and support as efforts to secure the victims’ freedom continue.

The abduction, which occurred in Oriire Local Government Area, has attracted widespread concern across Oyo State, with government and security agencies intensifying efforts to secure the release of those still in captivity.
