A chairmanship aspirant in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, Azeez Adedapo, has formally declared his intention to contest in the forthcoming 2026 local government election.
Adedapo said his decision followed wide consultations with party leaders and stakeholders, expressing gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve.
Addressing party members and residents, the aspirant said he is seeking their mandate to lead Oorelope Local Government with humility and a commitment to service.
He noted that his experience as a Special Assistant has strengthened his dedication to humanitarian service, adding that he intends to extend the same commitment to governance if elected.
According to him, his involvement in grassroots politics has exposed him to the challenges facing the local government, positioning him to provide practical and lasting solutions.
“I am in this race not for personal gain or partisan interest, but to serve with integrity, energy, and a clear vision for revitalising Oorelope Local Government,” he said.
Adedapo pledged to build on the achievements of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, promising to sustain ongoing development efforts while introducing initiatives that will improve the living standards of residents.
He outlined key areas of focus to include social infrastructure, job creation, education, healthcare, and community development.
The aspirant also called for unity among stakeholders, stressing the need for collective effort in restoring the pride and reputation of Oorelope Local Government.
He expressed optimism that, with the support of the people, the council area can achieve sustainable growth and development.
“Together, we can build a vibrant, united, and prosperous Oorelope Local Government,” he added.
