The Okere of Sakiland, Oba Dr. Surv. Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi ,Oyedepo III, has urged Nigerians to sustain unity, patience and hope as the country celebrates its 66th Independence Anniversary.
The monarch made the call in a statement issued on Thursday to mark the anniversary, urging Nigerians to reflect on the nation’s journey since independence and renew their commitment to peace, unity and national development.
Oba Olabisi commended Nigerians for their resilience and sacrifices in the face of the challenges confronting the country, stressing that meaningful progress requires the collective efforts of citizens, government and traditional institutions.
He urged Nigerians to support initiatives aimed at strengthening the economy, improving security and creating better opportunities for citizens.
According to him, “Nigeria belongs to all of us, and we must continue to work together to build a country where peace, justice, security and prosperity are accessible to all.
“Independence Day should remind us of our shared identity and the responsibility we have towards one another. Whatever our differences, we must continue to promote unity, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.”
The monarch also called on the people of Sakiland to sustain the peace and unity for which the ancient town is known.
He urged traditional leaders, religious bodies, political leaders, youths and other stakeholders to place the collective interests of the community above personal differences.
The Okere particularly stressed the need for peace and unity among youths, advising them to embrace legitimate opportunities and contribute positively to the development of Sakiland.
While congratulating Nigerians on the 66th anniversary of the nation’s independence, the monarch prayed for peace, stability and prosperity across the country.
He also prayed for continued peace and development in Sakiland and Oyo State, seeking divine guidance and protection for Nigeria and its people.
Oba Oyedepo wished Nigerians a peaceful and meaningful Independence Day celebration.
