Today  12th December, marked exactly one year after the demise of a foremost yoruba monarch, Oba Jimoh Oladuni Oyewumi. Soun Ajagunbade 111

The late soun who became king on 24th October 1973 joined his ancestors on 12th December 2021 at the age of 95.

His death created a vacuum which is yet to be filled today

The selection of the new soun by the Laoye ruling  house was enmeshed in selection crisis which is still lingering till date

Although, Prince Ghandi Laoye was seleced by the kingmakers but some of the contestant for the throne and family kicked against it by challenging his choice at the court of law and petition the government.

Governor Seyi Makinde recently told newsmen who querried the delay in the approval of the new Soun said, he would not untill the family agreed with eachother on whoever they choose

Also during an interactive session with Ogbomoso people during a stakeholders meeting at Soun Ogunolola Town Hall Ojagbo said the selection of the new Soun will follow due process

A source within the family told our reporter that ” Thought the family are already working on resolving the crisis but some external factors are involved too.

” The family wil resolve but another important thing is the issue of religion, some are of the view that having a pastor as Soun of Ogbomoso will not be good enough becaue he may not subscribe to all the traditions and traditional event associated to the throne and the community at large.

Various group and associations are clamoring for a quick action on the selection of the new Monarch for the historical town .
