The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Akanmu Ladoja, has commended the Nigerian Baptist Convention for its significant contributions to education, character formation and societal development.

Dr Olusola Idowu, paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Ibadan on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
Rev. Idowu was accompanied by the Prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Sunday Olamakinde.
The Olubadan, who received the visitors warmly, spoke fondly about his experience at Olivet Baptist Secondary School, where he received part of his early education.
He expressed deep appreciation to the Baptist Church for the role its educational system played in shaping his life, noting that the education and training he received at the school contributed significantly to his development.
According to him, without the education he received at Olivet Baptist Secondary School, his life might have taken a different course, stressing the enduring impact of quality education on individuals and society.
Oba Ladoja also described the Baptist Church as a major contributor to the development of education and society, while commending its commitment to Christian values and character formation.
He described Baptists as “people of the Book” and recalled with fondness the values, discipline and training associated with the Baptist educational system.
Responding, Rev. Idowu expressed appreciation to the Olubadan for his warm reception and kind words about the Baptist Church.
He conveyed the greetings and respect of the Nigerian Baptist Convention to the monarch and presented him with a copy of the Holy Bible as a symbol of the shared commitment to the Word of God.
The Baptist Convention President described the visit as memorable and meaningful, expressing gratitude to Oba Ladoja and Dr. Olamakinde for their encouraging words and appreciation of the contributions of the Baptist Church to education and national development.
The visit further underscored the enduring relationship between the Baptist educational tradition and the development of prominent Nigerians who have contributed to the growth of society.
