Remi Oladoye, Chief Executive Officer of LUREM G Media, has been honoured with an Alumnus Award by Anglican Grammar School, Ogbomoso, as part of activities marking the institution’s 50th anniversary.
Oladoye, a seasoned media practitioner and peace advocate, was among distinguished alumni recognised for their contributions to the development of the school and society at large.
The award was presented during the grand finale of the anniversary celebration held at B.A. Oke Hall, Ogbomoso, on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
The three-day celebration, which commenced on Thursday, September 24, featured several activities, including an anniversary lecture, book launch, sporting activities, award presentation, commissioning of projects and a back-to-school programme.
Speaking on the significance of the anniversary, the President of the Association, Solomon Olugbenga Bello, said the celebration was not merely an occasion for festivities but an opportunity to appreciate and give back to the institution that shaped the lives of its alumni.
Bello explained that the awardees were selected in recognition of their contributions to the development of Anglican Grammar School and society.
Other distinguished award recipients included Dr Tayo Adiatu, Chairman of Tulcal Engineering; Architect Sakiru Suara; Mr Rotimi Adewole, President of NCRIB; Dr Tayo Magbagbeola; Oba Prof. John Akintola; Prof. Jide Ajao; Prof. Gbenga Solomon Bello; Dr Dapo Ishola; Engineer Yinka Ajao; and Mr Onilede Solomon, among others.
Reacting to the honour, Oladoye dedicated the award to his late mother, Madam Omotayo Ibironke Oladoye, whose insistence influenced his decision to choose Anglican Grammar School, Ogbomoso, as his first-choice secondary school, as well as all the teachers who imparted knowledge and contributed to his development.
He said the recognition would remain special to him because it came from the institution and people who played significant roles in shaping his life.
Oladoye recalled his days as a student of the school, admitting that he was sometimes stubborn and even had to repeat a class.
According to him, the experiences he gathered during his formative years at the institution helped shape his character and life journey.
“I will forever cherish this award because it came from the people and institution that shaped my life. I dedicate this honour to my late mother, Madam Omotayo Ibironke Oladoye, whose insistence made me choose Anglican Grammar School as my first choice, and to all the teachers who imparted knowledge in me and contributed to the person I have become today.
“I recall that, as a student at Anglican Grammar School, I was stubborn to the extent that I repeated a class. However, the experiences I gathered there helped shape my life, and I remain grateful to the institution and the teachers who played important roles in my formative years,” he said.
Oladoye expressed appreciation to the school and its alumni association for the recognition, describing the honour as a reminder of the enduring impact of his formative years at Anglican Grammar School, Ogbomoso.
