Olubadan of Ibadan oba saliu Adetunji, Aje Ogunguniso 1 and Olugbon of Orile Igbon Oba Fracis Olusola Alao has mourn the passage of Oyo state former governor, Aare Abiola Ajimobi
Olubadan in a statement said it is not in Yoruba custom and tradition for a father to announce the obituary of his son. This is the dilemma of His Majesty, Oba Sali Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1, Olubadan of Ibadanland in respect of the exit of the immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
Words are not enough to describe the untimely exit of former Governor Ajimobi, an illustrious son and Aare of Ibadanland. One recalls that the last time Kabiyesi and Ajimobi met was at Ibadan House, Oke Aremo sometimes in February, this year. A wall (not hall) of fame built in honour of some illustrious Ibadan indigenes had been erected just before the outbreak of COVID-19. Nobody had the slightest idea that death would come calling to him so quickly. Ajimobi was vibrant and full of life at that occasion. Our prayer has always been that our children should outlive us. But, who are we to challenge the sovereignty of Almighty God who gives and takes without question?
On behalf of the entire people of Ibadanland, His Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji mourns the passage of Aare Abiola Ajimobi. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Our hearts go to his immediate family, especially Chief Mrs. Florence Ajimobi and the children.
It is our prayer that Almighty Allah would give all his friend and relatives the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Also the Olugbon Of Orile Igbon and Vice Chairman, Oyo State Obas Council & Chiefs, His Royal Majesty, Oba Francis Olushola Alao has described the demise of the former governor of Oyo state, Abiola Ajimobi as a rude shock.
The mornach in a statement he personally signed lamented that he has lost a big brother and a fantastic orator.
Oba Alao further said the country has lost a great gem at this crucial point in Nigeria political sagacity.
He said, “Ajimobi, great big brother, erudite personality, the fantastic orator , regardless of his public relation weakness and still of the view he was love by many .
“Oyo state has lost a great gem at this crucial point in Nigeria political sagacity, where the political class lack decorum.
“I will borrow a phrase from the present Executive Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, “that Ajimobi had left some blue prints which his administration has undertaken ” .
“I wonderfully commend the present cerebral and decent Governor for the acknowledgement.
“I pray that the family Senator Abiola Ajimobi left behind will experience, comfort, peace and long life….may his gentle soul rest in peace.”
