The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji will on Saturday inaugurate the Executive Committee of the Ibadan Airport Community Development Association (IACDA), to enhance security of life and property in and around the aviation community in the Oyo State capital.
The Chairman of the inauguration and swearing in ceremony committee, Alhaji Taofeek Aiki, told newsmen in Ibadan yesterday that the IACDA which was established to ensure a sustainable all round progress and security of people in the neighborhood, would also use the occasion to raise fund for further Community Development projects.
While emphasizing the commitment of the IACDA Executive committee to the fostering of peaceful co-existence among the people of the Zone, Aiki pledged the determination of the Executives to work harder on the enhancement of security within the communities. To this end, he said, the EXCO would ensure synergy with the Police Communities Relations Committee (PCRC) to ensure a neighborhood that is totally devoid of criminal activities by adequately supporting the PCRC where and when necessary.
He said: ‘’The EXCO would be made to ensure that life is worth living for people in this area. We have responsible citizens here who deserve nothing but the best. This is exactly why we charge the executive to further facilitate a decent environment here.’’
According to Aiki, the Ibadan Aviation community started springing up after 1981, when the Airport was developed, while the human actions of physical development of the Airport led to the influx of people into the area, thus necessitating the constitution of an executive committee that would interact with all concerned authorities and ensure further provision of basic amenities for residents in the community.
The executive members comprised representatives of all 17 zones in the neighborhood and would operate based on the provisions of IACDA constitution which allows the EXCO to serve for a period of two years or two terms, within which elections would hold to choose new leaders, he further stated.
