Olubadan Elevates Four High Chiefs in Balogun Line
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr.) Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, on Friday elevated four High Chiefs in the Balogun Chieftaincy Line of the Olubadan Traditional Council.
The promotion exercise was held at the Banquet Hall of the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan.
Those elevated are Oba Dauda Abiodun Azeez, who was promoted from Asipa Balogun of Ibadanland to Osi Balogun of Ibadanland; Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin, elevated from Ekerin Balogun to Asipa Balogun; High Chief Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli, promoted from Ekarun Balogun to Ekerin Balogun; and High Chief Samuel Adegboyega Adeniran, elevated to Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland.
In his message to the newly promoted chiefs, Oba Ladoja congratulated them on their elevation and appreciated their contributions and support to the traditional institution.
The Olubadan urged them to sustain their cooperation with the palace in moving Ibadanland to an enviable position, particularly in the areas of mutual understanding, peaceful coexistence, security, unity and developmental projects.
He charged the newly elevated chiefs to give issues concerning the progress and development of Ibadanland priority attention.
The monarch also urged them to use their positions to attract investors to Ibadanland, stressing the need to preserve the city’s cultural heritage and traditional values.
“As high-ranking traditional rulers in Ibadanland, you must do all in your power to attract investors to Ibadanland,” the Olubadan said, while emphasising that the promotion and preservation of Ibadan’s traditional and cultural values must not be compromised.
Baales Seek Olubadan’s Support
In a related development, representatives of Baales from across Yorubaland paid a courtesy visit to the Olubadan and members of the Olubadan Advisory Council at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan.
Receiving the delegation, Oba Ladoja appreciated the Baales for the visit and commended them for the existing peace, unity and mutual relationship among traditional institutions in Yorubaland.
The Olubadan reiterated his position that Ibadan is home to all Yorubas, noting that many prominent Yoruba leaders and personalities who have occupied important positions passed through Ibadan, with many maintaining homes in the city.
He also granted the request of the Baales from the South-West to establish a headquarters in Ibadan.
Earlier, the convener of the visit, Baale Amuwo Odofin, appreciated the Olubadan for the warm reception accorded the delegation despite the short notice of the visit.
He said the Baales were at the palace to receive the royal blessings of the Olubadan and pledge their support for Yoruba leaders towards taking Yorubaland to greater heights.
The convener also presented a certificate of award to Oba Ladoja in recognition of his role in promoting peaceful coexistence as well as the promotion and preservation of Yoruba traditional and cultural values.
Members of the Olubadan-in-Council, representatives of the Iyalode Line, Mogajis, Baales and other dignitaries attended the occasion.
