The Oyo State Chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has declared its support for the governorship ambition of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate, Hon. Abimbola “Bimbo” Adekanmbi, ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
The declaration was made during an engagement with members and stakeholders of the Igbo community in the state, where speakers also stressed the need for unity, peaceful coexistence and active participation in the political process.
The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akinsola Akintayo, who attended the event, urged members of the community to support the political direction of the APM, including the presidential aspiration of Governor Seyi Makinde, the governorship candidacy of Adekanmbi and other candidates of the party.
Akintayo emphasised the importance of collective participation in shaping the political and developmental future of Oyo State.
Speaking at the occasion, Adekanmbi assured the gathering that, if elected, his administration would run an inclusive government where residents and communities from different ethnic and social backgrounds would have a strong sense of belonging.
He said unity, cooperation and equal participation would be central to his administration’s efforts to build a more prosperous Oyo State.
Adekanmbi emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the APM in May 2026 and has since continued consultations and engagements with communities and stakeholder groups across the state.
The engagement with the Igbo community also highlighted the longstanding relationship between the Igbo people and the wider Oyo State community, with participants reiterating the importance of peaceful coexistence and collective development.
