MGGI CONDEMNS PEACE CONDITIONS BY HERDSMEN..
The Movement for Good Governance Initiative (MGGI) has condemned three conditions given to the federal government by Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) to end herdsmen-farmers clashes in Nigeria.
In a statement by the convener MGGI, Lekan Shobo Shobowale and made available to journalists in Abeokuta through its spoke person , Arewa Oladipo Abiodun , the group described the conditions as unnecessary.
“MGGI frowned at the stand of Miyetti Allah in calling anti- grazing laws by Ekiti, Benue and Taraba as draconian laws and means to chase away herdsmen.”
“We believe that anti grazing laws especially in Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa, Kaduna and all other states experiencing the attacks remains a major solution to ensure an end to all these senseless killings.”
On the three conditions by MACBAN, “we are of the opinion that if any individual or groups need to be compensated, it be the family of the dead and injured of these clashes and not the alleged perpetrators.”
“It is highly irresponsible on the side of the herdsmen to dictate to government on what to do after unleashing attacks on innocent Nigerians.”
The statement stated that governors in their states are the chief security officers of their domains and must do everything to secure lives and properties of their people.
MGGI called on MACBAN to called their members to order and learn on how to respect sanctity of human lives and also live in peace with their host communities.
It will be recalled that MACBAN through its secretary general , Baba Usman on Sunday in Abuja during a press conference gave three conditions for peace in Nigeria.
