All Progressives Congress APC Candidate for the Ogbomoso North State Constituency, Shittu Abdulfatah, has unveiled a comprehensive four-point agenda aimed at improving education, healthcare, youth development and the welfare of residents across the constituency.
The agenda, built around Education and Girl-Child Empowerment, Health for All, Sports and Youth Development, as well as Constituency Empowerment and Welfare, outlines programmes targeted at children, women, youths, the elderly, farmers, traders and other vulnerable members of society.
Under the Education and Girl-Child Empowerment pillar, tagged “No Child Left Behind,” Abdulfatah pledged to ensure that every child in Ogbomoso North has access to quality education irrespective of family background.
He said the agenda includes the establishment of the “Omo Abede Education Fund” to provide scholarships and bursaries for indigent students in universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
Special attention will also be given to the girl-child through the provision of additional support, sanitary pads and mentorship programmes designed to keep girls in school and help them excel academically.
Abdulfatah further promised support for SS3 students through the provision of JAMB and WAEC registration assistance and tutorials, while also seeking partnerships to renovate classrooms and provide learning materials in public schools.
On healthcare, the agenda is anchored on the theme “Healthy Mother, Healthy Child and Healthy Community.”
The Ogbomoso North State Constituency aspirant pledged to support free medical check-ups and subsidised drugs for senior citizens aged 60 years and above, describing the welfare of the elderly as a major priority.
The proposed programmes will also focus on maternal and child health, particularly support for pregnant women and children between ages zero and five, with the aim of reducing maternal and infant mortality.
Primary Health Centres across the wards are also expected to benefit from support through the provision of essential drugs and basic medical equipment, including syringes, cotton wool and bandages.
Regular medical outreach programmes are equally proposed across the constituency, subject to available resources.
Abdulfatah declared: “No mother should lose a child, and no elder should suffer in silence.”
The third pillar, Sports and Youth Development, is designed around the theme “Discover, Build, Represent.”
Recognising the abundance of young talents in Ogbomoso North, Abdulfatah promised to sponsor a bill on youth and sports development to institutionalise support for young talents.
A major proposal under the agenda is the establishment of a modern football academy combining 60 per cent football training with 40 per cent academic education, ensuring that talented young footballers do not abandon their education in pursuit of sporting careers.
Other initiatives include an annual inter-ward tournament to discover talents across communities, support for grassroots teams through sporting kits, boots and coaching, as well as partnerships with clubs and relevant organisations to provide scholarships and exposure for promising youths.
The agenda emphasised that young people should have the opportunity to become successful football stars while also pursuing their academic ambitions.
Under the fourth pillar, Constituency Empowerment and Welfare, Abdulfatah said government must be felt in every home, market and community.
The proposed interventions include micro-grants and interest-free loans for market women and traders, empowerment programmes for farmers and artisans through access to tools, inputs and training, and skills acquisition programmes for youths in areas such as tailoring, technology, agribusiness and other trades.
Beneficiaries of youth empowerment programmes are also expected to receive startup support to enable them establish sustainable means of livelihood.
The agenda also provides targeted welfare programmes for widows, vulnerable persons and senior citizens under the “Owo Arugbo” initiative.
According to Abdulfatah, the four-point agenda represents a commitment to inclusive development, purposeful representation and people-oriented governance.
He expressed confidence that, In Sha Allah, the people of Ogbomoso North State Constituency would experience programmes and interventions capable of directly improving lives and strengthening communities.
