Ogbomoso is grieving again as the ancient town mourns the death of another distinguished medical practitioner, Dr. Emmanuel Amao of Shalom Medical Centre, Ogbomoso.
About fourteen weeks ago, the entire city was enveloped in pain and sorrow following the death of Dr. Sunday Oladeji, founder and Chief Medical Director of Mainspring Hospital, Ogbomoso, who passed away after a brief illness.
Shalom Hospital is one of the medical facilities that revolutionised private healthcare practice in Ogbomoso. Beyond its modern medical facilities and qualified personnel, the hospital became widely appreciated for its prompt attention, compassionate service and affordable medical treatment, qualities that endeared Dr. Amao to many residents of Ogbomoso and its environs.
Today, the town is once again mourning the loss of another legendary medical practitioner, Dr. Emmanuel Amao of Shalom Medical Centre. His death is indeed a great loss to the medical community and the people he served.
Unlike Dr. Oladeji, who passed away at the age of 46, Dr. Amao reportedly died at the age of 71, according to family sources. Yet, to many of us, his death still feels premature. Seventy-one, especially for a physician who dedicated decades to saving lives, is simply too young to say goodbye.
Late Dr. Amao, Dr. Oladeji and many other private medical practitioners in Ogbomoso have played invaluable roles in saving lives and providing healthcare to residents of the ancient town and surrounding communities. Their contributions to the health and wellbeing of the people cannot be measured merely in statistics; countless families have had reasons to celebrate because of their dedication and commitment to the medical profession.
As Ogbomoso mourns another of its dedicated doctors, we pray that God grants the family, friends, colleagues and the entire community the fortitude to bear this painful loss.
May the souls of Dr. Emmanuel Amao, Dr. Sunday Oladeji and other departed medical practitioners rest in perfect peace.
Shalom, Doctor. Rest in peace.
