The Ogbomoso First Community Initiative (‘O’ 1st Group, a non political philanthropic association has made available bags of 10kg garri to the residents within Ogbomoso community as palliatives to provide succor during this pandemic period.
Making the presentation to traditional rulers, groups, associations and religious organisations, the President of ‘0’ First Group, Sir Ademola Dare- Williams, said the idea behind the donation was to support and complement government’ s efforts at ameliorating the sufferings of the people, occasioned by the outbreak of COVID- 19.
Sir Dare – Williams disclosed that, Sir Olusegun A. Adekunle, alongside members of the Group, championed and facilitated the production of the food item for distribution to the people in the community and channeled same through traditional rulers, religious organisations, and selected youth leaders. Other beneficiaries include Blind Center and the Motherless Babies Home, Oke Baby along lkoyi Road.
The President of the Group further disclosed that this is the first phase of series of relief packages and palliative measures being initiated and championed by members within the Group for the residents of Ogbomoso and environs.
He however prayed that this pandemic will soon become a thing of the past, as ‘ l believe our religious leaders, traditional rulers and indeed all Nigerians are praying fervently to terminate this pandemic while the government on it’s part is not relenting on it’s efforts to curtail the spread and also provide necessary medical facilities to mitigate the sufferings occasioned by the pandemic.
The President of the Group therefore urged the people to abide by the instructions of the government notably regular hand washing, use of disinfectant, social distancing, refrain from shaking hands, and leaving their homes unless absolutely necessary and important.
