Three teenage girls have been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command for allegedly threatening to kidnap a meat seller in Ikoyi-Ile and demanding human parts and a ₦10 million ransom.

The suspects—Nurudeen Fathia (17), Fatai Taiwo (17) and Munirat Saliu (16)—were arrested following a complaint lodged by the victim, Islamiat Omowumi, also of Ikoyi-Ile.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the complainant reported receiving a threatening phone call from a private number on Friday, January 9, 2026.

According to the statement, the caller threatened to kidnap Omowumi, demanded human parts, and insisted on a ransom of ₦10 million, claiming she was being targeted because she is a meat seller. The caller also allegedly warned of dire consequences should the demand not be met.

Ayanlade said detectives immediately launched an intelligence-driven investigation, which led to the swift arrest of the three teenage suspects.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to making the call but claimed it was merely intended as a prank,” the police spokesman said.

He added that a small itel mobile phone allegedly used to perpetrate the threat was recovered from the suspects, further corroborating the investigation.

The suspects are currently in police custody while investigations continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident and the appropriate legal action in line with the law.

The Oyo State Police Command, however, warned members of the public—especially youths—against engaging in acts capable of causing fear, panic or threats to life, stressing that such actions constitute serious criminal offences with grave legal consequences.
