Alliance for Democracy AD Gubernatorial Aspirant in Oyo state Dr Akin Onigbinde SAN, said he is vying for the gubernatorial position in 2019 to restore sanity and speedy progress in the state.
Onigbindea former speaker of Oyo state House of Assembly while speaking with Journalists at a media parley in Ibadan said his mission is to transform the state into a place of opportunities for all and sundry to thrive economically and ensure a safe environment
He maintained that the APC governments has turned people to beggars an lives on loan which cannot be repaid decades after they left office
“Many members of the APC are from different background they, don’t share the same vision, unlike AD where all members shares core progressive ideology and mission and in Oyo state today we are poise is to take Oyo state to the dreamland, a state where conducive atmosphere will be created for all and sundry to live in peace and explore the opportunities available for economic benefit and advancement of the state.”
Speaking on the prevalence of corruption in Nigeria, the legal luminary noted that corruption has eating deep into the fabrics of this nation and has done a lot of damages to an extent that the anti graft agencies set up by government may not be able to handle it effectively
“ The reasons why corruption is holding sway today is because our society generally has been deteriorated ,unlike 25 years ago when the culture of honesty and commitment was a virtue”
“ I succeeded as a speaker of the House of Assembly because I did not compromise the standard and that decision gave me ample opportunity to made significant contributions to the development of Oyo state “
While explaining why he left political stage for some time said “ I left because I am not a political jobber, a dignified politician goes back to his profession after serving in a political office to improve on his professionalism and become a better person and at the same time a prerequisite to prepare for next political position to perform excellently”.
He however call on the youths to be actively involved in the system and support in the development of a nation that will create a platform for them to thrive now and in the future
