Oyo State Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde Will on Monday inaugurate the 9th Assembly in Oyo state.
The new assembly comprises of 26 Peoples Democratic Party PDP lawmakers, 5 All Progressives Congress APC and One Action Democratic Party ADP lawmaker.
The outgoing speaker Hon. Olagunju Ojo while highlighting the achievements of the 8th assembly at the valedictory service held on Friday revealed that with the consideration of 157 motions, 87 Bills and 70 law passed, their tenure has performed far well than their predecessors.
Hon. Ojo led the observation of a minute silence for the late Speaker Hon. Michael Adeyemo and Hon. Gideon Akande who lost their lives during the tenure.
He also expressed his profound gratitude to the members of the house for giving him the opportunity to be the speaker after the demise of Hon. Adeyemo.
He appreciated the collective effort and high sense of responsibility of the members and staffers of the house for their impact since the 10th of june 2015 till the 7th of June of 2019.
He further disclosed that they have passed both executive and private member bills to provide legal framework for government businesses and activities in spite of UPs and DOWNs.
He admonished the electorate to hold politicians accountable and not to stop at the ballot boxes so as to bring about progression in the nook and cranies of the state.
Present at the Valedictory service were the representatives of The chief Judge of Oyo state, Justice Munta Abimbola; The State Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu; and The Oyo state head of Service, Mrs Amidat Ololade Agboola.
