Following the declaration by governor Seyi Makinde that the 8.3km Ojurin-Olounda-Abaa road will be listed for reconstruction before the end of his first term tenure, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hailed the move.
The party disclosed that the road which has been unmotorable for over seven years is strategic to road network in Ibadan, the state capital as it connects directly to Oyo town and will ease up vehicular traffic on Ojoo to Oyo route when completed.
The Publicity Secretary of PDP in Oyo state, Akeem Olatunji, in a press statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Saturday on behalf of the party, said the road when completed will not only revamp the local economy of the area but will also revolutionize it.
Olatunji said Makinde’s words are as good as bank cheques anyone can take to the bank noting that it was for the governor’s top level integrity and trust in his words that the masses have nicknamed him ‘Mr talk and do’ governor.
According to Olatunji, the area which is a less city has large number of plantation and commercial poultry farms adding that the road when completed will make transportation of farm produce to the main city easier and more accessible.
Describing Makinde as a visionary leader with great foresight, Olatunji said, by the time the governor will be done with engineering a modern Oyo state by 2027, whoever aspires to succeed him would have seen clearly that the bar of good governance has been raised to a level where mediocres won’t stand a chance because the people of the state have seen the light and beauty of qualitative leadership as exemplified by the governor.
“The road another option to link up Ibadan to Oyo town apart from the ojoo route. Hence reducing congestion on the oyo-ibadan road which will in turn guarantee durability and longevity of the Oyo-Ibadan road.
“Construction of the road is a huge way of directly bringing dividends of democracy to the very doorsteps of the people in that area as impact of the road will be felt directly by them because the road has not been motorable for more than 7 years.
“The road when completed will not only improve on the value of landed properties but will revolutionize real estate business entirely in the area and attract more companies and investors to site more businesses in the area, just like idi ape to baracks junction road along Bashorun Akobo road.
“Apart from the ambience and beautification the road, when completed, would bring to the area, vehicle owners and commercial motor operators in the area would have a sigh of relief from incessant repairs of their vehicles due to the bad road and more money would be saved for other uses.” Olatunji said.
Meanwhile, the ruling party has also commended Makinde for renaming the First Technical University after his predecessor, Late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, describing the governor as an epitome of Yoruba ‘omoluabi’ who typifies a true son of Ibadanland.
The party maintained that with such gesture by Governor Makinde, other politicians would have learned not to play politics with animosity or bitterness having realized that at the end of all the politicking, everybody still remain brothers and sisters regardless of political affinity.
