The Senate Chief Whip recalled the past, stating, “while I was the Governor of Abia state (199-2007), primary to university education (in the state) was made free and affordable.

“My government invested a lot in education to encourage people to go to school.

“The states and federal government are supposed to pay strict attention to education. It is irresponsible for any government to deny attention to education sector.”

He added, “Incessant strikes lead to delays in students’ graduation and slows down their life plans and life pursuits”.

Recall that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu recently won the ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC for Abia north, as he polled a total of 777 votes and was subsequently declared winner by Chairman APC primary election committee, Hon. Paul Uche.
