Renowned Professor of Information and Technology Management at the Faculty of Management Sciences in Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Professor Jonathan Oyerinde Adewoye, has canvassed for exploration of means to encourage rise in the knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Delivering the second in the series of Lecture of the Faculty of Management Sciences titled: “Perfect Knowledge Management and the Evolution of Information Management: A Continuum of Epistemic Aspiration”, Professor Adewoye, dwelt on the Changing Landscape of Knowledge and Information Management in a Rapidly Advancing World.
Dean of the Faculty, Professor Remi Aworemi, earlier in his Welcome address, described the Lecture Theme as a timely intellectual reflection on humanity’s enduring pursuit of knowledge.
According to him, the lecture invites society to appreciate a fundamental reality, that knowledge management is not a fixed destination but an evolving journey spanning generations.
Aworeni noted that the process which has progressed from the earliest oral traditions of forebears through the age of manuscripts and print media to the current digital and Artificial Intelligence era, is dynamic and always evolving.
Delivering the lecture, Prof. Adewoye examined the historical and philosophical development of information management and emphasized the increasing role of technology in shaping human understanding and decision-making.
He posited that AI represents the next stage in this evolutionary process and stands as the point where the gap between human capability and the theological ideal of omniscience becomes most visible and intellectually intriguing.
He highlighted how modern information systems continue to redefine access to knowledge while challenging institutions and individuals to adapt responsibly to technological advancement.
Representative of the University Vice Chancellor, professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, at the occasion, who is the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and Innovation), Professor Dauda Araromi, described the lecture as insightful, thought-provoking and relevant to contemporary discussions on knowledge creation, management and the future of information systems.
