Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 Lagos State election, was hosted by Chief Mrs. Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria and daughter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during his visit to the holy city of Mecca.
The meeting, which took place on Monday, focused on the importance of unity, peace, and selfless service to humanity. Jandor, in a statement released after the encounter, described the discussion as a reminder that despite differing political backgrounds, shared values and national progress should remain a priority.
“Throughout our conversation, a common thread emerged: the paramount importance of unity, peace, and selfless service to humanity. We both recognized that these principles are not merely aspirational ideals but rather the cornerstones upon which a prosperous and equitable society can be built,” he stated.
Expressing gratitude to Tinubu-Ojo for her warm reception, Jandor noted that the meeting reinforced the idea that faith and national interest should transcend political affiliations. He also acknowledged the role of collective effort in realizing President Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria.
The meeting has sparked political interest, given Jandor’s past opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos. Analysts suggest it could signal a potential shift in political alignments or simply a diplomatic gesture rooted in religious solidarity.
While no political commitments were disclosed, the engagement underscores the growing call for collaboration across party lines in the interest of national development.
