Its Official, Seyi Makinde Wins Oyo Governorship Election

Engineer Oluseyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party has been declared the winner of Oyo state governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC

Makinde scored a total vote of 515,621 to defeat his closest rival Oloye Adebayo Adelabu of the rulling All Progressives Congress APC who score 357, 982

Seyi Makinde won in 28 out of 33 Local governments of the state, while Adebayo Adelabu only won in five Local Government of Oyo State.

The returning officer, Professor Temitayo Ogundipe, Vice Chancellor University of Lagos UNILAG said the total register voters in 2,934,107 while 940,211 were accredited for the election.

He said the total valid vote is 916,860 while 20, 685 were rejected and total vote cast is 937,545.

Professor Ogundipe while declaring Makinde said Engineer Oluseyi Makinde Having satisfied the requirement of the law by scoring the highest number of vote is here by declared the winner of the election and return as governor elect”.
