PDP Chieftain, Mogaji Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe had urged youth across Oyo state to work for the reelection of Governor Seyi Makinde, in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy
Tegbe, who was the PDP Senatorial candidate for Oyo South made this appeal when he led a coalition of leading youth groups to the Deputy Governor, H.E Barrister Bayo Lawal who received them on behalf of the Governor.
In his remarks, Tegbe thanked the Deputy Governor for setting aside time to meet with the youths, noting that the meeting was at the instance of the Governor who is committed to addressing the concerns of the Youth groups.
Tegbe commended the tenacity and focus of the youth for not allowing themselves to be lured by the opposition party and their jaundiced offer, due to their conviction that Governor Makinde remains the best for the state. Tegbe appreciate the courteous manner in which they have conducted themselves, assuring them that a meeting with the Deputy Governor is just like meeting the Executive Governor himself. He assured them that the Governor will meet them after his victory this Saturday.
The Council, which consists of different groups, urged the governor’s administration to give the youth greater consideration in the Omituntun 2.0 era to accommodate their demands which include job opportunities and due recognition for their efforts to support the Makinde-led administration and put it in good light.
While welcoming the Youth, the Deputy Governor, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal noted that the youth are a big priority for the Makinde-led administration and that their physical and intellectual energies are important to the development of Oyo state.
Lawal asserted that “if we don’t live for the youths, then for whom are we going to live? He emphasized that the Governor, in an act of kindness, appointed a young man, Victor Olojede as Special Assistant on Student Matters, among other young appointees, stressing that youths largely dominated the formation of Makinde’s government.
He concluded by charging them to continue supporting the administration of governor Seyi Makinde because it is working to advance the interest of the youth.
The youths expressed their satisfaction with the prompt and fatherly intervention of Mogaji Tegbe, as well as the warm reception by the deputy governor. They vowed to brief their colleagues on the positive outcome of the meeting and promised to mobilize strongly for the re-election of Governor Seyi Makinde on Saturday.
