In a heartfelt gesture of compassion and community support, Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has gifted a fully furnished three-bedroom bungalow to an elderly widow, Madam Modupe Ajayi Alufoge, in Igbara-Odo Ekiti.

The house, built and donated by the Abiyamo Esther Oyebanji Foundation, was presented to the roadside petty trader on Wednesday after her previous home was severely damaged by last year’s heavy rainstorm, leaving her on the verge of homelessness.
Governor Oyebanji, represented by his wife, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, described the initiative as a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of vulnerable residents and ensuring no one is left behind in the state’s development agenda.
“Mama Ajayi faced unimaginable hardship when her home was destroyed, but today, she has a new chapter of hope,” the First Lady said. “This house is more than just a building; it is a symbol of compassion, solidarity, and the belief that no one should face life’s storms alone.”
Community leaders and government officials, including the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Peju Babafemi, and the Arajaka of Igbara-Odo Ekiti, Oba Edward Jayeola, praised the governor’s generosity, describing the initiative as a testament to his dedication to the welfare of Ekiti citizens.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Madam Ajayi expressed gratitude to the governor, calling the gift a miracle and a reflection of responsible governance.
The Abiyamo Esther Oyebanji Foundation, established in 2024 in memory of the governor’s late mother, has previously donated a state-of-the-art maternity ward to Aramoko General Hospital and an ultra-modern multipurpose hall to First Baptist Church, Ikogosi Ekiti.
