The Osun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has arrested no fewer than 935 motorists for attempting to corrupt its personnel, alongside 1,179 others for overloading, between May 1 and December 21, 2025.
The arrests followed an intensive integrity operation launched by the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Leye Adegboyega, fsi, shortly after he assumed duty in May 2025.
The operation, according to the Command, underscores FRSC’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and traffic violations on Osun roads.
A notable highlight of the exercise was recorded in July 2025 when Assistant Route Commander Babatunde J. Owoeye single-handedly booked 104 cases of “Attempt to Corrupt Marshal on Duty,” a feat described as unprecedented in the history of the Osun Command. For his exemplary conduct, Owoeye received a Management Commendation and a cash reward of ₦250,000, approved by the Corps Marshal, Sheu Mohammed, mni.
Speaking on the outcome of the operations, the Command said it has remained resolute in rejecting inducements and enforcing traffic laws without compromise. It added that the clampdown on 1,179 overloaded vehicles was aimed at reducing road crashes, injuries and fatalities often linked to excessive loading.
The Sector Commander reiterated that FRSC personnel in Osun State would continue to uphold professionalism and integrity, warning motorists against offering bribes to evade sanctions for traffic offences.
He urged road users to be law-abiding, noting that bribery not only undermines safety consciousness but also exposes motorists to greater risks on the highways, especially during the ongoing end-of-year special operations.
Adegboyega wished motorists a safe Christmas and New Year celebrations, reminding the public that road safety remains a collective responsibility that requires the commitment of all stakeholders.
