Chief David Attah, the former Chief Press Secretary to the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, is dead.

Attah died in a Jos hospital after a protracted illness at the age of  71.

Sympathisers have been trooping to the ex-CPS residence in Makurdi, Benue State, to console his family.

Meanwhile ,the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has described the news of the passing of Chief David Ogaba Attah, former Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, as a huge loss to the nation and the media industry.

In a condolence message to the Attah family, Adesina lauded Chief Attah’s distinguished service to the nation as a journalist, politician and opinion leader.

The Presidential Spokesman noted that the Benue-born veteran journalist, not only carved a niche for himself in the course of his journalism career, he was also a strong voice in the nation’s political terrain during his stint in the House of Representatives in the Second Republic.

Adesina said that the Ondoma of Idomaland will be long remembered for his candid views, measured and mature contributions to national discourse.

He enjoined media professionals and colleagues to draw inspiration from the career of Chief Attah, while urging the family of the departed to take solace in the knowledge that their father lived a fulfilled life.

On behalf of current and former presidential spokespersons, Adesina prayed that Almighty God will comfort the bereaved family, friends and associates, and grant the soul of Chief Attah peaceful rest.
