The family of Dr. Doyin Okupe has paid tribute to his legacy, highlighting his immense contributions to Nigeria’s political and public service landscape. The former presidential aide passed away on March 7, 2025, at the age of 72.

In an official statement, the Agbonmagbe Okupe family of Iperu-Remo, Ogun State, described Dr. Okupe as a “distinguished physician, visionary statesman, and consummate political strategist” who dedicated his life to public service and national development.

A respected figure in Nigerian politics, Okupe served as Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan. He played a key role in shaping government communications and policies during his time in office.

Beyond politics, he was known for his medical background and his advocacy for good governance and national unity.

The family expressed deep sorrow over his passing but emphasized that his “unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, and nation-building” would continue to inspire future generations.
