The final rites for former Oyo State Governor, Chief Dr. Victor Omololu Sowemimo Olunloyo, will take place between June 24 and 26, 2025, in Ibadan,
The higly cerebral form Ibadan man died on April 6, 2025, at the age of 89.
A distinguished scholar and statesman, Olunloyo served as the Executive Governor of old Oyo State and is celebrated for his contributions to governance and public administration in Nigeria.
According to the funeral schedule released by the Olunloyo family, the ceremonies will begin on Tuesday, June 24, with a Classical Music Night of Tributes at Felicia Hall, Jogor Centre, Ibadan. A Wake will follow on Wednesday, June 25, at the same venue.
On Thursday, June 26, a State Commendation Service will be held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium at 8:00 AM, followed by a Cathedral Liturgy at 11:00 AM at the Cathedral Church of St. David’s, Kudeti. A private family interment will take place immediately after the liturgy.
The day will conclude with a Reception at 2:00 PM at the University of Ibadan International Conference Centre.
