Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, father of Nigerian music star David Adeleke (Davido), has dismissed claims that the singer fathered a child, Anuoluwapo, stating that multiple DNA tests conclusively disproved the allegation.
Addressing a news conference in Lagos on Wednesday, Dr. Adeleke said the family relied solely on scientific evidence after the paternity claim resurfaced on social media. According to him, five DNA tests were conducted — three involving Davido and two involving his cousin, Adebayo David Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red — to eliminate any possibility of error. All results, he said, were negative.
“As the head of the family, it was my responsibility to investigate this matter thoroughly. I relied on science, and science clearly showed that Davido is not the father,” Adeleke said, adding that he would have accepted the child without hesitation if the tests had proven otherwise.
He disclosed that Anuoluwapo’s mother and grandmother first contacted his office in 2014 through a lawyer, prompting immediate steps to verify the claim. Despite the outcome of the DNA tests, Adeleke said the issue has continued to resurface online, necessitating his public intervention.
Dr. Adeleke further revealed that the family had nonetheless supported Anuoluwapo and her mother financially, including sponsoring their education. He said Anuoluwapo’s mother was enrolled at Adeleke University with a monthly N50,000 bursary but later dropped out.
The businessman also accused a blogger of being behind a January 15, 2025 post that reignited the controversy, noting that Anuoluwapo’s aunt had denied authoring or authorising the letter shared on X. He said the family is considering legal action against the blogger for impersonation and spreading false information.
Adeleke urged Anuoluwapo’s family to accept the DNA results, stressing that while the scholarship opportunity for her mother remains open, Davido is not her father as proven by science.
