The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force warned on Thursday that the virus is still very much within the society.
It warned residents of the state to continue to comply with all advisories aimed at  curtailing the spread of COVID-19.
It equally admonished residents continue to embrace the ‘Own Your Action’ (OYA) initiative introduced by the state government at the peak of the pandemic, urging them to stick to the guidelines of wearing nose and mouth masks in public gatherings, washing of hands with soap and water and use of hand sanitisers, among others.
A statement by Mr. Taiwo Adisa, Chief Press Secretary to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, quoted the Task Force as saying that it has reported a few cases of COVID-19 over the past 10 days.
The statement recalled that the Oyo State Task Force on COVID-19, headed by Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, took insightful actions and introduced policies with pinpoint accuracy, including the release of advisories on the prevention of the spread of the virus as well as food advisories to boost immune systems.
The statement read in part: “There are credible reports of the resurgence of the coronavirus infection in various countries and continents of the world.
“The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force has reported a few cases over the past 10 days.
“The advisories on curtailing the spread of the coronavirus infection, including wearing of nose and mouth masks in public gatherings, washing of hands with soap and water, the use of pharmaceutical grade alcohol hand sanitisers and avoidance of crowds beyond the recommended numbers are still in place.
“The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force hereby appeals to the good people of Oyo State to comply with these and other advisories as they apply to individuals and organisations.
“The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force admonishes us to ‘Own Your Action’ and together, we can stay healthy.”
