The Customs Area Controller of Apapa Port Command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, has been conferred with the Integrity and Excellent Service Award by the South West Guild of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) at the Guild’s 9th Anniversary Lecture and Awards Ceremony held at International conference Center University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The award was presented in recognition of Comptroller Olomu’s exceptional leadership, commitment to transparency, and outstanding service delivery, which have contributed significantly to operational efficiency and revenue growth at Nigeria’s busiest seaport.
Speaking at the event, SWEGOP Chairman, Pastor Bisi Oladele, noted that the award followed a meticulous assessment of Olomu’s public service record, especially his role in reforming operations, curbing smuggling, and boosting revenue at the Apapa Command.
“Under his watch, the Apapa Area Command has recorded remarkable achievements in revenue generation, transparency, and stakeholder engagement. Comptroller Olomu stands out as a public servant who leads with integrity and purpose,” Oladele stated.
Comptroller Olomu was represented at the ceremony by Deputy Controller Elijah K. who received the award on his behalf and conveyed his appreciation to SWEGOP for the recognition.
Other distinguished awardees at the ceremony included Mogaji Wole Arisekola, a renowned publisher and media entrepreneur, and Prince Dotun Oyelade, Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation.
The high-profile event featured a keynote address delivered by a representative of Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, and a lecture presented by Professor Adeolu Akande, a respected academic and policy expert.
The SWEGOP anniversary ceremony drew dignitaries from various sectors, including media executives, government officials, business leaders, and civil society representatives, all gathered to celebrate excellence in public service and journalism.
