In a groundbreaking initiative to enhance athletic performance and nurture young talent, the Executive Chairman of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has invited a leading running school from London to Nigeria.
The initiative is set to train the Ilaji Football Club team and discover budding talents from selected schools in Ona Ara Local Government.
A high-powered delegation, led by the Chief Operating Officer of the prestigious UK-based running school, visited Ilaji Resort and conducted a series of specialized training sessions. The activities included: A classroom session with Ilaji FC coaches and players in the morning, an afternoon training session with selected primary school pupils from Ona Ara Local Government and an evening session with Ilaji FC players at the main bowl of Ilaji International Mini Stadium.
Speaking to journalists, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi emphasized his commitment to establishing a permanent running school at Ilaji Resort, with special training sessions scheduled to commence in September. According to him, the initiative aims to revolutionize the training approach for footballers and young athletes, ensuring they meet international standards.
The Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS, who visited the training ground, commended Chief Sanusi for his visionary leadership. He further acknowledged the supportive policies of Governor Seyi Makinde, which have created an enabling environment for private-sector-driven initiatives such as this.
Also speaking on the development, Head Coach of Ilaji Football Club, Mr. Babatunde Odubola popularly know as Zico, expressed deep appreciation to Chief Sanusi for introducing the program. He noted that the expertise of the London-based running school would significantly enhance the speed, endurance, and overall performance of Ilaji FC players, preparing them for greater challenges on the field.
This initiative reaffirms Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi’s unwavering commitment to grassroots sports development and youth empowerment. It also positions Ilaji Resort as a hub for world-class sports training and talent development in Nigeria.
