In a major operation, a 42-year-old Angolan businessman, Mbala Dajou Abuba, was arrested at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, for attempting to traffic 1.829kg of cocaine to Istanbul, Turkey. The suspect, who ingested 120 wraps of the illicit drug, was apprehended while trying to board an Egypt Air flight on February 25, 2025. NDLEA officials placed him under observation until he excreted the substances over seven rounds.

In a similar development, NDLEA operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, foiled an attempt by an auto spare parts dealer, Okeke Ebuka Igwe, to smuggle 1.10kg of cocaine to Angola. The illicit substance was hidden inside vehicle propellers meant for export. The suspect, who operates an auto parts business at the ASPANDA Trade Fair Complex in Lagos, was arrested on February 24 following intelligence reports.

Meanwhile, in Lagos, officials uncovered 128 parcels of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, hidden inside mattresses in the trunk of a Toyota Venza car imported from Canada. The seizure, weighing 63.75kg, was made on February 28 during a joint security examination at the Tincan seaport. The consignee, 44-year-old Bamidele Joseph, was arrested and taken into custody.

In another operation, NDLEA operatives intercepted a Toyota Sienna bus transporting 5.40kg of cocaine to Owerri, Imo State, on February 23. The driver, Ezechi Iyke Cyprian, was arrested after weeks of surveillance.
