Contrary to some media reports making the rounds, prominent businessman, Chief Kessington Adebutu (Baba Ijebu) has not been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in relation to tax fraud.

Sources in his business organization revealed that his identify was being mixed up with that if his son, Segun Adebutu, while the context of the development was also being confused.

One of the sources who declined to be named, said, “We can categorically state that Segun Adebutu, Chief Adebutu’s son was neither arrested by the EFCC or any other law enforcement agency.

“What has been twisted out of context is the dutiful honouring of an invitation from the EFCC as a law-abiding citizen, who has nothing to hide. A few hours after Segun Adebutu was questioned, he was released contrary to speculation that he was detained.

“He has furnished the EFCC with the information as well as the documents they requested and has since been allowed to return to running his legitimate business.

“We are rest assured that the incident arising from the frivolous petition by one Buruji Kashamu of Western Lotto, one of our competitors, will fizzle out in a matter of time,” the source assured.
