Former Vice President of Nigeria and PDP chieftain Atiku Abubakar deeply commiserates with the family of late Mallam Abbas Ngura, a foremost scholar, author, educator and linguist.
The former Vice President said in a press statement in Abuja on Tuesday that Mallam Ngura will be remembered for his scholarly contributions to Islamic and Fulfulde literature in Nigeria.
Atiku Abubakar notes that Mallam Ngura will be greatly remembered for his boundless contributions to the promotion and preservation of Fulfulde language and culture as well as Islamic scholarship, having authored countless books, pamphlets and poems.
Atiku Abubakar stresses that one of his indelible contributions was as a member of the team that translated the Qur’an into Fulfulde, a project spearheaded by HRH the Lamido of Adamawa, Dr. Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa, CFR.
“His (Mallam Ngura’s) invaluable support to many Fulbe organizations, systems and courses such as Tabital Pulaaku International, The Pastoral Resolve, Pastoralism and the advancement of the nomadic education initiative in Nigeria cannot be easily quantified”, Atiku said.
According to Atiku, Mallam Ngura’s demise has left a huge vacuum in the intellectual circle of Fulfulde, the educational network of pastoralism and indeed a big yawn in his rare ability to develop a variety of contemporary literature for young Muslims.
Atiku Abubakar prays that Allah grants him Jannatul Firdaus and lasting peace in the world beyond and confer on his survivors the courage to carry the huge burden of his sudden exit.
