A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan South West Constituency 2, Adeniyi Abiodun Adeoti, popularly known as Oti Kajue, has announced his withdrawal from the race for the Oyo State House of Assembly seat ahead of the party’s primary election.

Adeoti, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said the decision followed extensive consultations with his family, friends, and political associates, stressing that the interest of Ibadan South West Constituency 2 must be placed above personal ambition.

According to him, leadership requires sacrifice, noting that peace, stability, and unity within the constituency and Oyo State should take precedence over individual political aspirations.

He stated that despite the huge support and sacrifices made by his loyalists and supporters throughout the political journey, he decided to step aside in the interest of harmony within the party and the constituency.

“I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to withdraw from the APC House of Assembly race. I do so with a full heart and with a firm commitment to support whoever emerges as the candidate of our great party,” he said.

Adeoti acknowledged the disappointment many of his supporters might feel over the development but maintained that his silence in recent times was deliberate and guided by the larger interest of the people.

Drawing from a traditional proverb, he noted that not all experiences encountered in political struggles are meant for public discussion, adding that wisdom and restraint were necessary for the sake of peace.

The APC stalwart expressed appreciation to the leadership of the party for the opportunity and support extended to him during the course of the contest.

He also urged party faithful to remain committed to the APC, describing the party as a collective home that must remain united ahead of future political engagements.
Adeoti further clarified that his withdrawal should not be interpreted as an act of weakness or fear but as a sacrifice aimed at preserving unity within Ibadan South West Constituency 2.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the constituency and pledged to continue supporting efforts that would bring dividends of democracy to the people whenever the opportunity arises.

The statement was signed by Adeniyi Abiodun Adeoti (Oti Kajue) of Ward 12, Ibadan South West Local Government, and dated May 20, 2026.
