The Okanlomo Oodua and Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, on Monday hosted the Alagooja of Ago Oja Kingdom, Oba Abdulganiyu Ajiboye Busari Arogundade II, in a high-level courtesy visit held at the Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort.
The visit, which carried strong undertones of cultural diplomacy and development partnership, centered on strengthening ties between traditional institutions and private sector-driven investment models within Yorubaland.
Speaking during the engagement, Oba Arogundade commended Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi for his consistent philanthropic interventions and his visible role in driving socio-economic development across communities in Oduduwa land. He described him as a rare private investor whose projects continue to inspire local and regional transformation.
The monarch noted that his decision to visit was also influenced by Sanusi’s investment footprint, particularly the Ilaji model of hospitality and sports development, which he said could be replicated in Ago Oja Kingdom to stimulate tourism, create jobs, and boost local revenue.
He further expressed gratitude to Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for restoring the long-standing traditional stool of Ago Oja Kingdom, describing the official recognition and installation of the Alagooja as a historic correction after over two centuries.
In his response, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi congratulated the monarch on his emergence and formal recognition, reaffirming his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote unity, cultural preservation, and economic advancement across Yorubaland.
He emphasized that sustainable development can only be achieved through deliberate investments in tourism, hospitality, and community empowerment projects that directly impact grassroots populations.
According to him, “Yorubaland must continue to build bridges between tradition and modern economic development,” stressing that private-sector collaboration with royal institutions remains key to regional transformation.
The Chairman of the Ago Oja Palace Working Committee and former House of Representatives member, Chief Akinrogun Oluwasegun Taiwo, speaking on behalf of the delegation, appreciated the warm reception extended to the royal team.
He offered prayers for Chief Sanusi, describing him as a pillar of Yoruba development and philanthropy, and prayed for continued strength and protection in his endeavors.
The delegation also included the Committee Secretary, Comrade Aiyelaagbe; palace secretary, Mr. Gbenga Oluokun; Hon. Sheriff Ajiboye; and other notable stakeholders who accompanied the monarch on the visit.
The engagement ended on a note of mutual commitment to deeper collaboration between Ago Oja Kingdom and development stakeholders across Yorubaland.
