Alaafin of Oyo Breaks Silence Over Sunday Dare’s Appointment As Minister

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba (Dr.) Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111,  has  described the appointment of Mr. Sunday Dare, Minister of youths and sports development
the appointment  as a manifestation of competence over partisanship.

In a press release by his Chief Press Officer, Bode Durojaiye, Alaafin also lauded Preside Muhammadu Buhari fot appointing former Executive Commissioner of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC),as a cabinet member

This, he said, was a pointer that the second term of President Buhari would focus on delivering more of the dividends of democracy to the people.

“Obviously, the choice of our son in Oyo State, Mr. Dare and others have clearly shown what to expect in the second term of President Buhari; that focus would be on delivering the dividends of democracy. It is also indicative of the fact that the administration would focus more on providing services to the people during this second term.

“Like others on the list, our nominee from Oyo State is highly competent for any Miinistry. His training, pedigree and various contributions over the years to Oyo State and the country have clearly shown that as a Miinister, he could now extend his contributions to highly significant and critical areas of our development as a nation”..

The Alaafin also applauded  the Minister for his carriage, calmness and his display of knowledge, especially in the communication sector during his screening by the Senate.

“It is clear that the President did not make any mistake in his choice”, the Imperial Majesty said.

The monarch therefore called on the people of Oyo State to support the Minister of Youth to ensure he succeeds in the task ahead and by extension assure that Oyo state takes more giant strides in areas of development.

“As a true and beloved Son, we are sure he would succeed, we therefore must give him maximum support to ensure that apart from his contributions at the national level, Oyo state also benefits from having our son in the Federal  Executive  Council (FEC).

According to him,  “the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has promised that his administration will ensure better governance for sports development.

“Dare, who hails from Ogbomoso in Oyo State has been living  by example in ensuring  that  his era would be a regime where sports would be transformed completely. He added: “This is going to be an era where sporting activities will attain greater heights in Nigeria.”

Said he, “we are not unmindful of the fact that the Sorts Minister not only inspected all the National Stadia in the country, but chosen the National Stadium, Abuja, as his office …

“Besides, the appointment of Mary Onyali, an Olympic  Medalist as his Special Adviser as his Specialist Adviser was  another milestone in the Minister’s commitment towards transforming sporting activities in the country…”

Alaafin therefore charged the management and staff of the Ministry to roll up their sleeves and get ready for work.

“The ministry is critical to the realisation of Mr. President’s agenda of lifting 40 million Nigerians out of poverty”

He emphasised that the youth was key to every developmental strides of any nation, believing that the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports mandate was very clear and transparent.

Also, he said the Minister was determined to take sports from the back page to the front page of national discourse.

Oba Adeyemi averred that “the single most important quality you can ever develop that will enhance every part of your life, is the value of integrity. Integrity is the core quality of a successful and happy life. Having integrity means being totally honest and truthful in every part of your life. By making the commitment to become a totally honest person, you will be doing more to ensure your success and happiness in life than anything else you can ever do.

“Integrity is a value, like persistence, courage, and intelligence. It is your choice of values and resolution to live by those values that form your character and personality. And it is integrity that enhances all your other values. The quality of person you are is determined by how well you live up to the values that are most important to you. Integrity is the quality that locks in your values and causes you to live consistent with them
