The reforms are aimed at repositioning the NYSC as a skills-driven, productivity-focused and youth-empowering institution.
The seven landmark reforms approved by the Council include:

1.A technology-driven call-up process to improve efficiency and transparency.
2. Risk-sensitive deployment of corps members to enhance their safety and security.
3. A redesigned six-week orientation programme with greater emphasis on leadership, entrepreneurship, digital skills and specialised career pathways.

4. Skills-based primary assignments aligned with graduates’ academic backgrounds and career aspirations.

5.Modern governance structure featuring civilian operational leadership, while the military continues to provide security support.

6.Improved orientation camp standards through a national grading and certification system.

7 .A new graduation ceremony to replace the traditional Passing Out Parade, alongside a redesigned NYSC uniform that reflects professionalism and national pride.

The reforms are expected to modernise the NYSC, improve the experience of corps members, and strengthen the scheme’s contribution to national development and youth empowerment.
