Otunba Babatunde Adesokan, the immediate past Vice President of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA), has been elected as the National Publicity Secretary of the association.
Adesokan secured victory after polling 201 votes to defeat his opponent, Dr. Oludayo Taiwo Gideon, popularly known as GidiBoss, in a keenly contested election.
Reacting to his emergence, Adesokan expressed appreciation to members and stakeholders for their support and confidence in his leadership, pledging to fulfill all campaign promises and reposition the association for greater impact.
“I will ensure that all campaign promises are fulfilled and do everything humanly possible to take NANTA to the next level,” he said.
Adesokan had earlier declared his intention to contest the position at the association’s Annual General Meeting in Ibadan, citing his wealth of experience and longstanding commitment to NANTA’s development.
Drawing from his tenure as Zonal Public Relations Officer and Zonal Vice President—positions he held for two terms each—he noted that his leadership journey has provided him with deep institutional insight and a clear understanding of the association’s strengths and challenges.
He emphasized that strategic communication remains central to shaping NANTA’s image and influence, stressing that public relations must go beyond routine messaging to reflect purposeful leadership.
Adesokan outlined his agenda to include repositioning NANTA’s public image, institutionalising professional communication standards, strengthening engagement with key stakeholders across government and industry, promoting unity among members, and elevating the association as the authoritative voice of travel professionals in Nigeria.
He further highlighted his background in journalism as a critical asset that would enable him to deliver effectively in the role with professionalism, discipline, and clarity.
Describing his emergence as a call to service rather than a quest for title, Adesokan reaffirmed his commitment to collaboration, continuity, and the collective advancement of the association.
