The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released its detailed timetable for the 2026 primary elections ahead of the 2027 general polls, outlining key activities, dates, and costs for aspirants across various offices.
In a public notice issued from its national headquarters in Abuja, the party said the primary process will begin with the publication of guidelines on April 30, 2026, followed by the collection of application forms from April 1 to May 4.
According to the timetable, the sale of nomination forms is scheduled for May 5 to May 10, while submission of completed forms will take place between May 11 and May 13. Screening of aspirants is fixed for May 14 and 15, with results to be published on May 17. Appeals will be entertained between May 18 and 19, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be released on May 20.
The party also confirmed that its primary elections for State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats will hold on May 21, 2026, at the ward level, adopting either direct primaries or consensus arrangements. The governorship primary is slated for May 22, while the presidential primary will take place on May 25.
Further activities include a meeting of the National Executive Committee on May 26 and a Special National Convention on May 27.
On the cost of nomination forms, the ADC pegged the presidential form at ₦100 million, governorship at ₦50 million, Senate at ₦20 million, House of Representatives at ₦10 million, and State House of Assembly at ₦3 million.
The party, however, announced concessions aimed at promoting inclusivity. Women and persons with disabilities will receive a 25 percent discount on nomination fees, while youths are to enjoy a 50 percent reduction.
The timetable was signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinedu Idigo, who reiterated the ADC’s commitment to a transparent and inclusive primary process
