Senator representing Ondo North senatorial district at the national assembly, Robert Ajayi Boroffice has donated six branded Toyota Hilux vans to a Yoruba sociopolitical group, Yoruba Ko’ya.
The Hilux vans according to Boroffice, was to provide additional local security for Bola Tinubu’s political campaign as political activities heightens ahead of next year’s presidential election.
Senator Boroffice who is the deputy leader of the senate, presented the six branded Hilux vans today in Ibadan to the group as a show of support towards Bola Tinubu’s presidential campaign ahead of 2023 election.
The former Lagos state governor, Tinubu is the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2023 general elections.
Wale Folorunsho, who presented the branded vans to Yoruba Ko’ya on behalf of Senator Boroface said, the gesture was part of the senator’s dire commitment towards the Yoruba agenda which according to him, Tinubu represents in the 2023 presidential election.
“Senator Boroffice has overtime demonstrated his interest and love in unshakable and phenomenal ways towards the development of Yorubaland, and especially, to also demonstrate his to all democratic processes that can particularly engender development, not only in Yorubaland but across the country.
“But this time around, out of his own personal determination to strengthen this democracy in Nigeria, has presented six security Hilux vans to the Yoruba Ko’ya organization.
“Senator Boroffice is one of the life patrons of this formation, not only him actually because it’s an organization that consists of notable Yoruba leaders and Obas. The Ooni of Ife for instance, is one of the patrons who is supporting the growth of Yorubaland.
So, we’re only witnessing here today the manifestation of the love and interest of some of these leaders towards the development of Yorubaland.” Folorunsho said.
In his remarks after receiving the Hilux van’s keys, the national president of Yoruba Ko’ya, Mr Sunday Akinyemi who spoke to journalists in Yoruba language, commended Senator Boroffice for always identifying with any collective Yoruba agenda.
He said the group is purely a sociopolitical organization that is championing the course of Yorubaland and has its members cut across different political divides.
Mr Akinyemi, who acknowledged that the 2023 presidential election is more about the three major ethnic groups; Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo, maintained that Yorubas will provide the needed political support and rally round its own in the 2023 presidential election.
“What Senator Boroffice has done is something that amazes me. This is not the first time he has provided support to a Yoruba agenda, he has been doing this for a long time especially on security related matters in the south west region.
“When I received a call this morning that they’re bringing vehicles to us in order to provide security for Tinubu’s political campaign, I was surprised because I was not expecting it but I am not surprised because Senator Boroface is one of the patrons of Yoruba Ko’ya.” He stated.
He however, assured to rally all members of Yoruba Ko’ya across the nation for the actualization of Tinubu’s presidency come 2023 while calling on other natable Yoruba leaders to openly show their support and throw their weight behind Tinubu which according to him has been adopted as the Yoruba agenda in 2023.
