Amid growing concerns over insecurity, students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, have resorted to self-help by monitoring areas that have recently come under attack by suspected robbers.

In recent weeks, armed robbers have reportedly invaded several hostels and residential areas around the university, dispossessing students and residents of phones and other valuables.

Every night students were seen patrolling major streets armed with cutlasses and sticks, in an attempt to deter further attacks and protect their community

One of the students who don’t want his name in print  told National Insight that the development is to protect the area from the criminals who have been making life difficult for students of communities in school area
