Succour came the way of some residents and indigenes in Ogbomoso South local government area on Thursday as women, youths, widows, elderly among others benefited from Hon Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy Self Sustainability Empowerment Program.
Among items distributed at the covid-19 restricted program by Hon Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy who is the Caretaker Chairman Ogbomoso South local government to alleviate poverty in his local government includes sewing machines, grinding machines, Pop corn machines, Generating set and clippers, Washing machines and Iron, refrigerators, Electric Oven and Gas Cooker among others.
Speaking with journalists after the empowerment programme, Hon Oyedokun explained that the items given were based on the identified need gaps to boost their economic productivity as well as creation of wealth, noting that the beneficiaries will empower other people in no distant time.
He said “the present economy has been negatively affected by the outbreak and after math of Covid-19, and that has affected the living standard of most residents and indigenes of Ogbomoso South local government as some people can no longer feed themselves.”
He added that the empowerment programme is a fall out of his longtime search to alleviate the poverty in his council , noting that beneficiaries of the empowerment programme will further create wealth with the kind of items they received.
Hon Oyedokun reiterated that his administration has been providing solutions to the needs of his people through people’s oriented programmes as laid down by the state governor, Engr Seyi Makinde.
“The beneficiaries of this Self Sustaining Empowerment Program were carefully selected across the ten wards in Ogbomoso South local government.”he added.
He however expressed his profound gratitude to the state governor, Engr Seyi Makinde for finding him worthy to serve his people, assuring that the people of Ogbomoso South Local Government Area would ever be grateful and continue to support his people oriented government.
In their separate remarks Mr Adeleke Julius and Mrs Olajumoke Alagbe who could not hide their joy, expressed their profound gratitude to Hon Oyedokun saying that the past months has been hell for them and their family after covid-19 made them to lose their jobs.
